In an act of “breaking the ice” between Insigne and Napoli, the club will meet again with Lorenzo and his agent after the first match of the Serie A.
After Insigne’s agent dropped a bomb earlier in the week stating his client was reluctant to renew his contract at Napoli due to financial stinginess, ADL and Co. are heavily at work to convince their prized jewel to prolong his stay in the South of Italy.
According to SportItalia, Napoli will hold a meeting with Insigne and his agent after the first match of the new season against Pescara. Lorenzo would not like to leave Napoli nor are Napoli willing to sell him. Reportedly, the contract dispute is due to the player feeling underpaid. Both parties see their client as Napoli’s “Francesco Totti” so to speak. Therefore, it would take a massive meltdown on all fronts to see il magnifico leave his beloved Napoli.
Alfredo Pedulla of SportItalia also reports that Inter are interested in the player, however it is only an interest and no formal offer of any kind has been submitted as of yet.
Lorenzo Insigne comes off of a stellar Serie A campaign with Napoli, scoring a career high 12 goals and racking up 10 assists in the process. Will the love affair between Lorenzo Insigne and Napoli continue? Or will the two finally break apart after 7 years?
