In the dying days of the January transfer window, Napoli is chasing midfielders the likes of Ralf De Souza Teles and Étienne Capoue.
Serie A observers and Napoli aficionados alike will agree, however, that the azzurri‘s central defence needs to be bolstered.
A name that has risen to the forefront in the last 24 hours is that of another Brazilian, namely Henrique Adriano Buss. The Palmeiras centre defender may be the solution that Benitez needs, for he doubles as a holding midfielder.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio Henrique’s chances of donning azzurro are increasing, the wrinkle being the formula of the transfer. The 27 year old central defender is expected to move on loan (6 to 18 months), with buy-out clauses to be determined.
Henrique is quite cultured: besides the Brazilian Serie A and Serie B, he has played in the Liga (with Racing Santander), and in the Bundesliga (with Bayer Leverkusen). The Spanish and German stints were loan spells from Barcelona, who acquired him in 2008. However, he never featured for the blaugrana.
In 186 official matches in all competitions, Henrique scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists. He also collected 4 caps for Brazil.
