Napoli fell victim to a 2-4 defeat at the hands of Roma, it was a night to forget for the Azzurri. Here is how we rated each individual Napoli player’s performance.
Pepe Reina (5): Reina cannot truly be at fault for any of the goals tonight. The defense, especially Mario Rui, were at fault for each goal.
Elseid Hysaj (4): Absolutely horrific on the ball this evening. He misplaced many passes that lead to Roma counter-attacks. Overall, this was certainly a night to forget for the Albanian.
Raul Albiol (4): Got beat to a header against Dzeko which gave Roma the advantage, not a good showing from one of Napoli’s most consistent performers this season.
Kalidou Koulibaly (4): Even Koulibaly, the rock at the heart of Napoli’s defense, was helpless tonight. Mistakes just kept coming from K2. Not a good night at all for the Senegalese international.
Mario Rui (2): Had a great assist for Insigne to open up the scoring in the 6th minute, then was completely lost from thereon. No where to be seen on 3 of Roma’s four goals, one in which he assisted to Perotti. Simply terrible from Rui this evening.
Allan (5.5): Easily Allan’s worst performance of the season yet, and that is saying a lot because the Brazilian wasn’t all that bad. The best word to describe his performance tonight was “average”.
Jorginho (5): Even Jorginho had uncharacteristic mistakes this evening. He gifted the ball back to Roma on their first goal of the night, which set the tone for the rest of the match.
Piotr Zielinski (3): A non-factor for the entirety of his time on the pitch. Didn’t benefit the squad at all like he usually does, he seemed tense to say the least.
Jose Callejon (6): Callejon had a good performance today, he set up Insigne on many occasions but the Italian did not deliver as much as he should have.
Dries Mertens (5.5): Despite his goal in injury time, the Belgian was very poor tonight. He did not get involved in build-up play nearly enough. A night to forget for Dries.
Lorenzo Insigne (6.5): You would think for a guy who shot the ball more than 10 times in one game and had about 8 shots on target, he would have a higher rating. On most nights that would be the case, but tonight is not one of them. He needed ton deliver with all the chances he created, and he only hit the bullseye on one of those occasions.
Marek Hamsik (5): Hamsik came on for Zielinski and had enough time to make an impact but that impact was not seen tonight from the captain.
Arkadiusz Milik (N/A): The Polish international has finally come back from his ACL injury suffered in September, however he cannot be rated tonight due to the limited minutes he had.
