Napoli came away with a very important 1-0 victory at home to SPAL as they retake first place from rivals Juventus.
Pepe Reina (6): Reina was not tested very much in today’s match. SPAL only had three shots on target in the game and they all went safely into the shot-stopper’s hands.
Elseid Hysaj (6.5): Hysaj really has been raising his level over the past few weeks. Today he was solid defensively yet again and offered a bit going forward as well.
Raul Albiol (6): The 32-year-old hasn’t looked like age has caught up to him just yet. Still running around like a young kid and bossing the Partenopei defense along with his partner Koulibaly.
Kalidou Koulibaly (7): Koulibaly had a great match today. He barely put a foot wrong the entirety of the match. He also had the chance to score a goal after a beautiful run forward with the ball and a curling shot from 25 yards that went just wide.
Mario Rui (7): One of Napoli’s bright spots for sure today. Offered so many runs forward, assisting Insigne and Hamsik just like Ghoulam would. His defensive ability has also improved ten-fold since his debut for Napoli back in November.
Allan (8 MOTM): Undoubtedly the man of today’s match. Not only did he get the lone goal, he was on the money for the full 95 minutes played. Rarely gave up possession and you can certainly tell his fitness is top notch, with no noticeable difference in speed from the 5th minute and the 95th minute.
Jorginho (6.5): Had some great moments today with perfectly placed over-the-top through passes. He almost had a few assists as well if it weren’t for a great performance from Alex Meret in goal for SPAL.
Marek Hamsik (5.5): Besides Marek’s greatly taken (however disallowed) goal, there wasn’t much else of note from Marekiaro today. One could tell he struggled a bit with fatigue.
Jose Callejon (5): Not the best of matches from Callejon. He started off well, but then again looked fatigued as the match wore on. Sarri needs to find Callejon room for rest.
Dries Mertens (5): Mertens did not have his best match as well for the Partenopei. Dries got caught in possession quite a bit and he also took a bit too long to pass the ball to his teammates one too many times today where quick play was needed.
Lorenzo Insigne (6): Certainly the best attacking player today for Napoli. He got unlucky on a few occasions where on other days the ball might have crept in, with one shot hitting the post and another just going wide of the far post.
Piotr Zielinski (6.5): Zielinski is in top form lately and showed it again today. A player that can dribble through mounds of players like nothing is something the Partenopei need, and they have it in the Polish international. One shouldn’t be surprised if Zielinski makes his way into Napoli’s starting lineup for their upcoming matches against Leipzig and Cagliari.
Marko Rog (N/A): Rog entered too late in the match to be properly assessed with a rating.
Amadou Diawara (N/A): Diawara entered too late in the match to be properly assessed with a rating.
