Napoli scraped a 2-1 victory away to Udinese in arguably their toughest away fixture of the season. Here is how we rated their player’s individual performances from the match.
Pepe Reina (5.5): Reina could have arguably been better on Perica’s looping header that gave Udinese a lifeline in the match. The Spaniard was rooted when a lofty header went over his head and into the corner of the net. Also, Reina had a few questionable moments with coming out to pick up loose balls.
Elseid Hysaj (5): It wasn’t Elseid’s best match of the year at all. In fact, it may have been his worst in a Napoli uniform. He did not look to have much solidity defensively nor confidence when going forward.
Vlad Chiriches (5): This was definitely not the Vlad Napoli fans have come accustomed to this year. The Romanian has been a stalwart in the Napoli back-line ever since Albiol’s injury, however today he looked more like the Vlad Chiriches of previous years.
Kalidou Koulibaly (7): K2 would have been given an 8 for his performance today, however his woeful defending on the corner leading to Perica’s goal is what gives him a 7. Nonetheless, it was a typically great performance from arguably Napoli’s best player.
Faouzi Ghoulam (4): Not good enough from the Algerian. Was beat many time and had a number of errant passes. He’s been taking a step back from his usual form ever since the Juventus match.
Allan (4): Again, like Ghoulam, just not good enough. Had way too many errant passes and was caught out of position on one too many occasions.
Diawara (8 MOTM): The 19-year-old is the gift that keeps on giving for the Partenopei. He intercepted many dangerous passes and held his own in the midfield throughout the entirety of the match.
Marek Hamsik (6): The Napoli captain wasn’t at his best today but he did just enough to balance the midfield.
Jose Callejon (6): Like Hamsik, Callejon had just an ‘efficient’ game and not a ‘great’ one. He just did his job and was awarded with the assist on Insigne’s first goal.
Dries Mertens (5): Dries was certainly not on top form today. Even though he came close to scoring in the second half, he had little impact on the outcome of the game. Mertens looked tired and fatigued.
Lorenzo Insigne (6.5): Lorenzo had a rather poor game today despite his brace which lifted the Partenopei to victory. He took both his chances supremely well however throughout the game he did not look like last year’s Insigne.
Emanuele Giaccherini (N/A): Giaccherini did not have enough time/impact on the field to gain a rating.
Piotr Zielinski (6): After coming on for Hamsik, Zielinski brought the game back to life with his typical marauding runs through the midfield.
Omar El Kaddouri (N/A): Like Giaccherini, OEK had little time on the field to make any worthy impact.
