On Wednesday night, Napoli will hit the San Paolo to face Benfica in the second game of the Champions League group stage. This is a very important match for the Partenopei, who with a victory hope to consolidate their hold on first place in Group B.
Maurizio Sarri spoke to the press, and took the chance to warn his players:
“We know that Benfica is one of the top teams in Europe, they are organized amazingly and always play to the top of their game. Last year they made Bayern Munich quake in their boots, we are well aware of the struggles on the road ahead.”
There are still some uncertainties when it comes to Napoli’s starting XI:
“I still need to speak with the medical staff about the condition of the players who were on the field on Saturday.”
“Can we keep Juve’s rhythm? We’ve only played one league cup game, but that doesnt matter, all I’m focused on is tomorrow’s match.”
“Do I prefer Champions League or Serie A? In the end I get excited over a friendly match so you can figure that out on your own.”
Napoli hope to consolidate their position as the top contenders to Juventus’ title this year.
