Napoli defeated Frosinone 5-1 away Sunday afternoon, sliding them past Inter for first place in the Serie A following an Inter loss and Fiorentina loss. After the enormous victory, Napoli’s coach, Maurizio Sarri, had a post-match interview with Mediaset Premium.

Sarri went on to say:

“It was a game in which there were several difficulties. We tried to dribble the ball at a high speed and we did well, it was a test of maturity. You could feel the pressure and toll this transition took, but we have taken a step forward in our mentality. We are doing well up to this point. We do not have the certainties that other teams may have, therefore, we have to keep working without deceiving anyone.”

When asked about the Scudetto:

“Juventus have something more, namely four league titles already won. Juventus is the number one candidate to win the Serie A, I always say it. From the first minute of this match we tried to play wider, to create space, and then after the goal the interiors found more space to integrate themselves. What satisfies me the most? Trying certain things repeatedly that will benefit us in our tactical aspect of the game. The aspect that has satisfied me the most about this team is the availability of the players, from first to last, even the more important players.”

When asked about his decision to not play Lorenzo Insigne:

“It seemed fair to give more minutes to those who have less minutes played in their legs and the result was obtained. I told him to warm up when it was 2-0, but then we scored two goals within a minute and I subbed in El Kaddouri. It seemed more fair and also because he always gives us a helping hand.”

When asked about being scared of all the first place talk:

“I always tell the players what I really think. Higuain is only using 50-60% of his abilities, he is a champion. We must not fear the environment because the enthusiasm of the people can spill in euphoria and that could lead us into blunders. We must take another big step forward in our mentality.”

When asked about Manolo Gabbiadini, who scored a fantastic curler after being subbed on for Gonzalo Higuain:

“He showed today how much he means to this team. He’s coming back from a quite heavy injury. Until a few days ago he had ankle pains even in training. It was only obvious to give him some minutes today and it will become crucial for us to keep doing so. It’s clear that he is not for sale.”
