Cagliari ink their U-21 International goalkeeper to a contract extension for the next four years.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Alessio Cragno has renewed his contract with Cagliari and will remain with the Sardinian club until 2020. The 21-year played two games for Cagliari in the Coppa Italia before being shipped on loan to Lanciano where he made 18 appearances and collected 4 clean sheets. Cagliari made the announcement official via their website:
The club is pleased to announce the contract renewal of Alessio Cragno. The Goalkeeper, born in 1994, has signed a contract that ties him to the club until 2020. Quick and explosive force among his best attributes, which have enabled him to enter into the picture of the youth National Teams: from the Under-17 to sporting the jersey of the Under-21s. Arriving in Sardinia in the summer of 2014, Cragno has collected 14 appearances in Serie A with Cagliari. This past season, he continued his development as Marco Storari’s back-up and playing as a starter in the Coppa Italia against Inter and Sassuolo.
In January, the club decided to sent him out on loan to Lanciano: 6 months to play continuously and once again prove even more his worth. Mission accomplished for our Alessio who, despite the difficult season for the Abruzzesi, shined in his 20 appearances as a starter. Hence the renewal with the Rossoblu. Cagliari and Cragno together until 2020.
