In an interview with Centro Suono Sport, transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà had this to say about AS Roma.
Who are the players that Sabatini is realistically looking at?
The premise is that Roma will have a transfer market in which they consolidate the team and then they would sign two or three players to strengthen the team. Roma has to choose between a great center-forward and a great winger. Currently the names on Sabatini’s list are Iturbe, Cerci and Aubameyang. Jackson Martinez? I have heard nothing of any contact with Roma or vice versa.
Who would you sign between Iturbe and Cuadrado?
There’s no question, I would take Cuadrado, however this isn’t realistic because he has voiced his want of leaving Italy to play with a top tier European club. I know that at Trigoria there were tears shed about how Cerci left the team but now he has matured over the course of three years, he’s now worth 20 million euro.
Is Roma risking to lose Benatia during the transfer market?
No, if anything, they risk getting big offers for him. I don’t like how Roma are represented on the European scale, it seems like people go to them to make a supermarket deal. No, Roma can manage to decline big offers, if someone were to leave, then someone better would replace them. Although Roma have renewed Pjanic’s contract, I still see them signing an important center-midfielder. Paulinho is a no-go. Ljajic is 99.9% out the door and I see his exit as a good weapon for a trade.
If you had to put money on a player coming to Roma who would it be?
It all depends on who Tottenham’s new manager is. Sabatini has been in London for the past two weeks. Tottenham-Roma is an important axis on which we could see some deals come through. However, that being said, I will always see Pastore as a name on Sabatini’s agenda. Sooner or later, they are going to work together.
Will Napoli invest the same amount of capital on the transfer market?
No doubt, thats how you get along with Benitez, he always pushes for moves to be made on the market. There are names on their shortlist that are also on Roma’s. There is still tension between the two clubs after Napoli contacted MArquinhos’ and Lamela’s agents last year without going through the Roman club first. If you want players from Roma, you knock on Pallotta’s door, if you try another way, he’s going to slam the door in your face.
Who will be Milan’s coach next season?
If Spalletti isn’t available, then I envision Donadoni on their bench.
