After the Nerazzurri’s third victory in the last five games, Inter coach Stefano Pioli was asked to analyze his team’s 2-0 performance against Genoa by Inter Channel:
“We don’t have a preferred playing system. Eventually that’ll be a problem for our adversaries. Today we suffered, but were rewarded fairly. We try to do our best. I chose three attackers because I wanted to put their defenders under pressure but we have to work that better. Finally we were able to find the openings, we must keep this attitude.
Nagatomo and Palacio? I do it all the time, I try to reward the daily work and they have shown me being on the pitch, that they can help make the team effective. I am open to all, the rest is on them.
Change of system? Yes, for both our characteristics and to expose the flaws of our opponents.
Sassuolo next week? We’ll have to be good because we get Lazio right away after them. It will be important to do well in these two challenges. It hurts to be out of Europa League, but we must take advantage of the full weeks to improve. We need to find continuity, and we’re in the position to do so.”
In the next five matches, Inter will be facing Sassuolo, Lazio, Udinese, Chievo and Palermo respectively. With Europa league out the window, the Nerazzurri can turn their focus to the league table where they’ll be looking to gain some much needed ground on the rest of Serie A’s giants. Inter currently sit in 8th place with seven points between them and European spots.
