A.C. Milan’s 18-year-old midfielder Manuel Locatelli was a star off the bench in Milan’s 4-3 victory over Sassuolo on Sunday.

Manuel Locatelli has been used off the bench a few times to start the season by Vincenzo Montella, as the manager continues to have more confidence in the player. The Italian Under-21 midfielder is regarded as one of the bright young stars Italy has to offer, with many saying he can replace Riccardo Montolivo immediately.

What he did well:

His calmness at the centre of the midfield was a huge component to the Rossoneri’s comeback. He made many key passes in front of the defence immediately after coming on. In only 31 minutes of playing time, his movement and control in the centro campo played a huge role into Milan getting up the pitch effectively.

Locatelli showed more maturity today and he has the qualities to start this season in the Serie A. His precise, late defending to secure the victory was immense to their victory.

Well, if Manuel had the chance to prove himself, this was it. He came on with confidence and essentially led Milan to victory, along with his teammates of course.

Going into the international break now, Locatelli has given Montella a lot to think about with his selections as the Italian youngster could very well see himself in the starting lineup soon. Locatelli showed the Milanisti today just what he can do on the pitch, as his scorching goal will go down as one of the best in Serie A this season.

A first career goal for the youngster in Serie A TIM, but certainly it won’t be his last.
