Speaking in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan midfielder Andrea Poli narrated what are the features he found in his coach Clarence Seedorf that makes him unique.
“Seedorf focuses a lot on the psychological side, it’s the first time that I’m being coached in that way. He gives a lot of importance to the individual talks with the players, it’s so important in the communication. He is different than Allegri who used to talk less.”
“Actually I had a flu that slowed me down. Against Udinese in Coppa Italia I was supposed to play but got a flu that affected me for a whole week. Against Cagliari in Serie A my body was still weak, then against Torino I decided with Seedorf that it’s better to stay at Milanello & work on my recovery. Seedorf asked me to move a lot against Atletico but moves which are congenial to my skills. I can now play offensively & come back to help in the defense. The role that I really like, I feel that it suits me well. I always enjoyed Seedorf’s ability to read the game when he was a player. He used to play in different roles but always was good in choosing the area of the pitch where he can harm the opponent, I wish I can steal this secret from him.”
The 24 year old player also spoke about his team’s big game against the Serie A leaders Juventus. “Over the last two years and half, Juve have dominated the Serie A. They have great leaders such as Buffon and Chiellini, who I played with in the National team. Last year with Sampdoria we beat them home & away, we will try to win. Who can make the difference? I’ll say Pazzini, he is like Balotelli can always make the difference. It’s true that there was contact between me and Juventus in the past to join them but a deal did not take place.”
