Broadcaster, RAI Italia has secured the rights to broadcast the Coppa Italian competition until 2018.
The new deal gives domestic rights to RAI for the Italian competition until the 2018 season. SportsPro has reported the extension of the agreement will see RAI pay over $70 million USD, as they beat out competition over the broadcast rights from other corporations such as Mediaset and Infront Sports.
The league is said to have valued the rights at $88.5 million USD, but the amount paid by RAI is still higher than the value of the current Coppa Italia deal, which is estimated to be just above $63 million USD.
RAI will also have the rights to broadcast the Supercoppa game against the Serie A champions versus the Coppa Italia winner.
TIM, who is Serie A’s title sponsor (also until 2018), have secured the radio and mobile rights to both the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa for the same time period.
