Claudio Ranieri believes that Mario Balotelli should return to the national team.
Ranieri is currently the manager of Ligue 1 outfit Nantes and sees a lot of Mario Balotelli and Marco Verratti as the duo play in France.
The man who guided Leicester to their first Premier League trophy spoke to Radio uno and discussed Balotelli and Verratti.
“Balotelli? Here in France, he’s making the difference for Nice.
“He needs a game with the national team to see if he’s matured”.
Ranieri then mentioned Marco Verratti of Paris Saint-Germain.
“Verratti has shown great things in Ligue 1.
“I see him just in front of the defence: that’s his role for me. Zeman played him there for Pescara.
“We should give him the responsibility of that role and then see if he can hold it down.
Ranieri was then asked about Gianluigi Buffon who is set to retire at the end of the season.
“I think Gigi has more charisma and intelligence than most.
“When he decides to retire, he must stay in football. He’ll be very well-placed at deciding whether that’s with Juventus or the national team”.
