Southampton defeated Inter 2-1 in Europa League action at St. Mary’s Stadium on Thursday night.
After the match, Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia spoke to Sky about the disappointing outcome.
“It is a big disappointment. Today we gave it our all, the guys were desperate. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough. This means that we must do more.”
The Saints trailed 1-0 in the match, but two second half goals guided them to victory. Sky asked Ranocchia what he though was the moment that Inter lost control of the match.
“There was not a specific moment. In this stadium when they score they are loaded [with energy]. From this moment, we must think about the next game.”
Inter now put themselves at a high risk of not advancing to the knockout stages. The Serie A side sit in last place with three points in Group K, losing three out of the four matches they’ve played. Inter plays its next Group K match against Hapoel Beer Sheva on November 24.
Ranocchia was the only Inter player to salute the traveling fans after the match.
