Reports from England suggest that Manchester United are not the only club after Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Kalidou Koulibaly’s ascent to stardom has made him a hot target for most Premier League clubs. Earlier today, the Daily Star reported that Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were interested in bringing the player to Old Trafford. However, they have now identified a new favourite for the defender’s signature.
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea have entered the race for Koulibaly and are heavily interested in bringing the player to London. After a lacklustre season, it appears that David Luiz and Gary Cahill will be leaving the club when the transfer window reopens. As a result, Antonio Conte is looking for reinforcements in Italy and has identified Koulibaly as the ideal target.
Koulibaly, however, has always highlighted his desire to stay put at Napoli until a title is won and has rejected any foreign advances until now. While he has said that one day the Premier League may interest him, it is currently unlikely that he leaves Napoli this summer. The partenopei, on the other hand, have no intention of selling him.
The Senegalese international has made 34 appearances for Sarri’s men so far in all competitions and is instrumental at leading the backline.
