The highly-touted Sampdoria midfielder, Lucas Torreira is set to complete a massive move to English giants, Arsenal.
After several weeks of being linked with multiple big clubs, the Uruguayan midfielder has decided his future lies with the Gunners.
Fabrizio Romano confirms that the total cost of the operation is €30m. The gritty Sampdoria man had a buyout clause of €25m, but it was expected to be paid in full. Most people declare that amount too pricey, but there are a handful of people that see his price tag as the biggest bargain of the year.
The 22-year old Torreira has been one of Serie A’s low key jewels over the past several years for the Blucerchiati, and he has even received plaudits from his Uruguayan compatriot, Luis Suarez, who said in an interview after a match with Sampdoria:
“He came on the scene at a very young age, when it’s not at all easy to assert yourself, but he succeeded in performing at a high level. Obviously it’s up to the coach Tabarez to call him up but, if there was the possibility, he’d be welcomed and I’m sure he’d make the most of it.“
Torreira may be the missing link Arsenal has been looking for the last couple seasons. The perfect man to link their defence up, with their attack. At this time, just the final announcement is separating Torreira from becoming a Gunner.
