Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri reportedly would have rejected the opportunity to bring in Gerard Deulofeu and Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco last month.
According to Rai Sport, Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli was ready to close the deal for Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu who reportedly had agreed on personal terms with the club, while also making an attempt for Belgian Yannick Carrasco.
The two players, however, as the report claims, would have been rejected by Sarri himself who did not believe either fit his scheme and style of play.
The Partenopei went hard and heavy to land an additional winger last month, launching serious bids for Bologna’s Simone Verdi who rejected a move to the San Paolo, and Sassuolo’s Matteo Politano. However, on Deadline Day, Napoli came up short to finalise a deal for Politano and now must look to win the title with the roster in its current form.
