Rumours surfacing around Italy suggest that Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina is inching closer to a move to Milan in the coming days.
According to Canale 8, Pepe Reina will undergo his medical with Milan on Monday, after Napoli take on Inter. Following the clash, the goalkeeper will remain in Milan and perform all the necessary tests before putting pen to paper on a deal binding him to the rossoneri as of the summer.
The 35-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Milan over the past month, yet the rumours remain unconfirmed. Thus far, he’s made 34 appearances for Napoli in all competitions and has maintained the starting role ahead of Luigi Sepe. Despite the rumours, he has consistently highlighted his desire to stay in Naples.
In the past, Napoli have been linked with Geronimo Rulli and Bernd Leno to replace Reina, but nothing ever materialized. Should the deal go through, expect the partenopei’s interest in the keepers to resurface come summertime.
As for Milan, it remains to be seen whether Reina’s arrival is a preemptive measure to replace Donnarumma or if the Spaniard is coming in to provide experience and deputize for the young keeper. In any case, it appears Reina’s days at Napoli are numbered.
