Roberto Mancini wishes Mario Balotelli can one day return to the Italian National Team and knows his former player has the world-class capabilities to do so.
In a recent publication by French news outlet L’Équipe profiling the rebirth of Nice striker, Mario Balotelli, former Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini was interviewed in regards to the Italian International, whom he managed at both Inter and Manchester City:
I gave him his debut at 17 years old. I was certain he would become world-class. He was calm on the pitch and was cold-blooded when he played, but he could not stand the pressure. I always hoped his head would work well on match-day. If he is not playing with the National Team, it is his own fault. It is incredible that he is not Italy’s starting striker. To me, he is a special player, for all that he has done. I respect him a lot. I hope he understands that he has the possibility of becoming a player of the highest-level.
