Roma advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Champions League by overturning the 2-1 defeat in the first leg by keeping a cleansheet at home.
Alisson (6.5): Spent his night between the sticks in a calmer manner than expected. Only had to deal with Taison’s effort from distance and that was it. Another cleansheet in the books.
Alessandro Florenzi (6.5): Florenzi showed off his giallorosso heart tonight together with De Rossi. Did not stop running the entire match and captivated the crowd. Good game in both the offensive and defensive halves.
Federico Fazio (6): Made a mistake that could’ve proved costly when his weak ball fell to Ferreyra. In the second half he put up a wall. Strong effort.
Kostas Manolas (7.5): The Greek did not put a foot wrong tonight. The Ukrainians could not do anything with Manolas in the way. Massive game.
Aleksander Kolarov (6): A subdued night from the Serb but he kept Marlos even quieter. Not bad at all.
Daniele De Rossi (7): The 34-year-old rolled back the clock tonight and put in an old-school performance. He put the team on his back and that’s why they are going to the quarterfinals for the first time in over a decade. Bravo capitano.
Radja Nainggolan (6): No missteps from the Ninja, who patrolled the midfield very well. He didn’t produce much going forward but was a warrior elsewhere. Strong.
Kevin Strootman (6.5): Played the key ball to Dzeko for the winning goal with an incredible volley. Key figure in today’s game.
Cengiz Under (5): Just wasn’t as effective as he was in the opening leg. Subbed off for Gerson when Di Francesco wanted to try something new midway through the first half. Offsides several times.
Edin Dzeko (8): The match-winner. The golden ball didn’t come in the first half but when it did he was ready. Roma has their goalscorer back, and it paid BIG tonight.
Diego Perotti (6.5): Gave the Ukrainian backline hell and grew into the match as it went on. Could’ve had an assist or two tonight, but he will get another chance in the quarters.
Gerson (6): Committed quite a few fouls but added an extra level of grinta to carry Roma through.
Stephan El Shaarawy (N/A): Came on in stoppage time.
