Roma are close to inking a deal with the Spanish defender.
Following Antonio Rudiger’s injury and Leandro Castan’s loan move to Sampdoria. Roma are trying to strengthen their back-line, after Juan Jesus from Inter, Roma are coming close to signing Nacho Fernandez from Real Madrid.
In the past weeks, the most pressing issue for the Roma squad was their defense. After losing Rudiger to injury, Maicon to free-agency and Lucas Digne to Barcelona, it was painfully obvious that the Giallorossi need to invest heavily in their defense. Their first official signing was Mario Rui, Portuguese left-back from Empoli to replace Lucas Digne. To add depth to their center-back core, according to Sky Sport Italia, they have reached an agreement with Inter for Juan Jesus.
Although it seems that Roma have added an important piece with Juan Jesus, they still need to sign someone to play in Rudiger’s steady while the German recover’s from his devastating knee injury. The player that has been identified is Nacho Fernandez, 26 year-old Spanish center-back.
Since joining Real Madrid from RM Castilla in 2013, Fernandez has amassed 79 presences, with 2 goals, 2 assists and 11 yellow cards.
According to Sky Sport, the two parties have met and there are positive vibes, they will meet again in the coming days. It seems that the agreement has been made on the basis of a free loan with both a buy back and a recompra clause.
Nacho and Roma, a transfer on the verge to happen. The Roma faithful hope this will help them build a team to win the Scudetto in Francesco Totti’s final season.
