According to the Portuguese news outlet A Bola, Roma are interested in signing Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera, who in the past weeks has been linked to southern rivals Napoli.
According to the article the GialloRossi would begin negotiations for the player if they were to qualify for Champions League football, which would call for more reinforcements in the midfield department, especially due to the shocking transfer of Pjanic to Juventus.
Herrera began his playing career with Pachuca in Mexico where he made 52 appearances and scored 2 goals. In 2013 Herrera was transferred to Porto for a fee of 8 million euro, and has since notched up 79 appearances while scoring 15 goals.
In a past interview with Sportmediaset, the Mexican midfielder stated that being linked to Napoli meant that he has been playing well. “Porto is a great club and I’m happy to be here, I want to continue to work and then we will see if there is a future announcement.”
If either Napoli or Roma hope to sign the player, one thing is a given, they will need to open up their check-books, because it will be an expensive transaction.
