Roma Midfielder Radja Nainggolan makes it clear that “we can’t make the same mistakes” in their Champions League Second-Leg against Liverpool.
La Magica were 5-0 down at one point in the First-Leg in Anfield, but a system change to 4-4-2 saw the Giallorossi score two late goals and offer themselves a chance at a comeback.
Nainggolan sat alongside his Manager Eusebio Di Francesco in today’s Pre-Match Press Conference. The first question the Belgian International was asked is how to stop Liverpool.
“You’d have to ask the boss, but we saw in the first leg what not to do, they have good attacking players, we didn’t concentrate for the full 90 minutes and at this level you’ll get punished for that. We have to try and turn it around.
“In Barcelona we were consistent and the result flattered them – that wasn’t the case in England. We got two goals which allow us to play, but we can’t make the same mistakes”.
Nainggolan wask asked what happened to Roma in the Firat-Leg as they are normally so solid at the back.
“What happened? I don’t know the semi-final, the emotion I don’t know.
“We had a good start then conceded two goals before the break, so maybe it was that. Then maybe one player is mentally stronger than another, but after this game we’re stronger and more aware.
“There are a lot of things we have to improve, and we need to do better over 95 minutes”.
