Roma and Sampdoria are reportedly battling to sign defender Eder Balanta from River Plate.
After losing Mehdi Benatia to Bayern Munich, the Giallorossi are reportedly interested to sign a defender despite adding Ashley Cole, Davide Astori and Kostas Manolas in this transfer market. Meanwhile, Blucerchiati have already signed Fabrizio Cacciatore and Lorenzo De Silvestri to bolster their defensive flanks but are looking for a replacement to World Cup winner Shkodran Mustafi as the German signed for Valencia in this summer.
According to Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma will face stiff competition from Sampdoria to sign Balanta from River Plate. The 21-year-old Colombia international reportedly has a price tag of €6 million, which the Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini is reportedly reluctant to meet.
La Samp’s interest in the player will reportedly not fade away, as the Genoa-based side are still in the market for another center back. The report also indicated that the Bogota-born man will being playing in the Serie A next season after La Banda‘s prospect attracted many suitors from Italy after an impressive display against Japan at this year’s World Cup.
Balanta featured in thirty three games for River Plate in all competitions last season.
