Roma vs Liverpool: Line-Ups

Roma return to their favoured 4-3-3 formation with Patrik Schick and Stephan El Shaarawy starting.

The Giallorossi have a huge deficit to overturn after they were defeated 5-2 at Anfield in the Champions League Semi-Final First-Leg last week. Interestingly Roma find themselves in the same situation that they were in during the Quarter-Finals against Barcelona.

La Magica lost the Quarter-Final First-Leg 4-1, however they emerged victorious with a 3-0 result at the Stadio Olimpico and progressed through on away goals.

If Roma want to progress through to their first Champions League Final since 1984 and face the holders Real Madrid, Eusebio Di Francesco’s side will have to win 3-0 or 4-1, but matching the 5-2 scoreline in the First-Leg will take the match to extra time.

Di Francesco has learnt the error of his ways from last week and has scrapped the three-man Defence, which was violated by Liverpool, and has returned to the favoured 4-3-3.

Gregoire Defrel, Diego Perotti and Kevin Strootman are all injured, so Schick and El Shaarawy are playing as wingers with the gunman Edin Džeko leading the line.

Lorenzo Pellegrini steps in for Strootman and he will play alongside Captain Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan.

Liverpool are without Emre Can, Joe Gomez, Adam Lallana, Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as they are all suffering from injuries. Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold are able to play after brushing off minor injuries.

Mo Salah returns to the Stadio Olimpico for the first time since leaving Roma in the summer and he will play alongside Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the formidable front three.

Roma haven’t conceded a single goal at home in the Champions League this season and are also undefeated at the Stadio Olimpico during the competition this season; however Liverpool have scored in every single game of the Champions League this season so one way or another one of the exceptional records will be broken tonight.

Roma Starting Line-Up: Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Pellegrini, De Rossi, Nainggolan; Schick, Džeko, El Shaarawy
