Mauro Icardi’s ‘poker’ led the Inter assault over Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris as the Nerazzurri cruised to a 5-0 win.
Here are the Inter ratings.
Samir Handanovic (6.5): A pretty simple day at the office for Inter’s number one as he wasn’t faced with much danger. Executed two saves and picked up a clean-sheet.
Joao Cancelo (7): A strong outing for the Portuguese international down the right flank. Plenty of charging runs forward and involvement in the final third. Hit the crossbar from the corner and supplied Perisic with an assist to open the scoring in the 26th minute.
Milan Skriniar (7): All in all, a rather Skriniar-like performance today for the Slovak defender. Did well to close down and completed 100% of his passes.
Joao Miranda (7): The Brazilian worked well with his partner Skriniar today and gave Quagliarella very little to work with in the final third.
Danilo D’Ambrosio (6.5): Simple outing for the Italian who did the job on the back end to assist his backline. Four aerial battles won to aid the cause.
Marcelo Brozovic (7.5): Followed up his underrated performance vs Napoli last week by showing consistency in the midfield throughout. Calmness on the ball, orchestrated in the midfield and held things down altogether. 91% pass accuracy, initiated 10 long balls and executed six tackles. The Croatian is settled in.
Roberto Gagliardini (7.5): The Italian is on a nice run of form here. Recovered plenty of balls in the midfield and did well to move possession. Together with Brozovic, Spalletti has his double pivot established.
Antonio Candreva (6.5): A decent outing from the Azzurri international, and really one of his typical performances.
Rafinha (7.5): The Barcelona loanee showed tremendous quality and ability on the ball in the final third today, specifically on Icardi’s third goal.
Ivan Perisic (7): Inter need their Croatian star to get back into form down the stretch here, and today he showed up. Scored the first goal which opened the floodgates for a big Nerazzurri victory, and demonstrated his on-the-ball skill down the left that can really cause opponents problems when clicking.
Mauro Icardi (9.5) MOTM: A 14-minute hat-trick and became the sixth-youngest player to score 100 Serie A goals. On the day, Inter’s captain buried four goals on six shots and just 14 touches. Icardi really only needs a single touch to impact a match, and although recently he has struggled for service, today was a prime example of just how lethal he can be in the final third when properly supplied.
Eder (6.5): A decent showing from the bench for the Italian against his former club.
Matias Vecino (6): The former Fiorentina midfielder connected on all 20 of his passes after replacing Candreva.
Borja Valero (N/A): Not much activity for the Spaniard today as he played just over 10 minutes and pulled off the simple passes to see this massive victory out.
