Sampdoria are interested in acquiring a central defender before the new season begins. The Blucerchiati have put Inter defender Hugo Armando Campagnaro at the top of their list of targets.
After losing German defender Shkodran Mustafi recently to Valencia, Sampdoria are looking to bolster their defense. Recently La Samp missed out on experienced defender Mario Yepes, and have now set their sights on Campagnaro. The Argentine defender presents a guarantee at center defense and is one of the most underrated defenders in the league. While his form may have dropped off last season due to a considerable amount of factors, he is still a capable defender and provides Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men with depth down the middle.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, initial contacts have been made between both parties. Inter are open to the idea of selling the defender as they already have a replacement lined up in Rolando, who spent last season on loan with the club. Also, with the West Ham friendly coming up for the Italian side, Pedro Obiang might be on the agenda. The Hammers were said to be interested in the Spanish midfielder in the past and might discuss the possibility of bringing him to London this summer.
Hugo Campagnaro made 20 appearances for the Nerazzuri last season while Obiang featured 24 times for Sampdoria registering no goals or assists.
