Bologna and Montreal Impact owner Joey Saputo was asked about potentially bringing Mario Balotelli back to Italy and answered rather bluntly.

Before he took his seat for his side’s game against Crotone, Bologna owner Joey Saputo was asked about the rumors linking Mario Balotelli to his side. Saputo told reporters:

“You can’t sign a player just for marketing benefits. He needs to have a sense of team.”

These were the words of Joey Saputo on Balotelli. The former Milan striker is currently searching for a new team and it seems Bologna have no interest in him. Saputo would go on to add that they should “let their sporting director work” as it’s “his job along with the manager’s.”

When asked about Bologna’s objectives this season, Saputo said:

“Last season, when the year first started, survival was the most important thing. This year it’s important that we do a little bit better than last season. We have to work slowly, slowly and that’s what we’re doing.”
