Napoli defeated Udinese 1-0 at home to stay unbeaten in their last several games and keep the pace with the other squads who are above them in the Serie A standings. Maurizo Sarri commented on the team’s play, Gonzalo Higuain’s winner, and also his squad’s current objectives in an interview with Mediaset Premium after the match.
Sarri: “The match was difficult, but we made it difficult by not putting the game away. At the 80’ we could have been winning 3-0, but instead we risked conceding a goal off of a free kick. It could very well be because Udinese is a team that does very well on the road. In this moment we are converting minimally on the many chances we create.”
On the squad’s objective: “In this moment we are in 4th place, therefore, our objective is to try and see if we can take 3rd place. I work very concretely, and don’t have time to think about other things.”
On Higuain: “From Higuain I always expect more than what he shows me because I think he is one of the best footballers in the world.”
The Partenopei and the rest of the Serie A clubs will now be on international break and return the weekend of November 21. Napoli will be away to Hellas Verona on the 22nd where they try to continue their winning ways and seek to move higher in the table.
