Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri was content with how his players performed against Besiktas in the Champions League, but indicates they are missing something in attack.
Despite the positive performance which allowed Napoli the chance to get back into the game through Hamsik, Sarri was still disappointed with the outcome.
Talking to Premium Sport he discussed the match and players:
“We have to concentrate a lot on our performances. After a difficult period where we had lost momentum, we have performed well in our last two games. I am very happy with this performance, although I’m a little bitter about the result. Unfortunately, at this time we can’t convert what we create in attack. I thought Insigne’s final shot was in, as it looked like the ball was going in. Those details help reporters on the match, but as a coach this is a provision that gives me satisfaction. We have to find balance, if we are able to perform better in defense our attack will benefit as well.”
“Manolo did well in the first half, in the second he was less effective. After ten days without a game I think it was still a positive performance.”
Why wasn’t Callejon used in the first encounter?
“Callejon is a player who gives us plenty of balance, plus he is able to remove a lot of danger on our right side. He is very good at attacking, he is very important for us.”
How close is Milik’s return?
“Milik has the same recovery time as every other player who has the same kind of injury. There are no further knee problems, and Milik has a fierce determination to return with his return shorter than expected. I can’t worry too much about these injuries. Injuries are part of the game, we are sorry that it happened in the national team. We try to give confidence to Milik. He is an amazing guy and he will become a great striker again on his return.”
