Sassuolo’s Matteo Politano spoke after his teams 3-1 loss to Genk in the Europa League yesterday.
Interviewed by Sky Sports post match, Matteo Politano discussed how much Sassuolo tried to overcome their rivals but to no avail.
“We had not given up despite the game starting badly for us. We regret we could not do better and we had to take advantage of different opportunities. They made two shots on goal in the first half and scored two goals. In the second half, we started well.”
“There was a penalty for us and we could have reopened it but it didn’t go well. Now we are only thinking of Sunday’s game, and unfortunately we go home without a positive result and we’re sorry.”
“In these matches we need to transmit the right mentality, especially to the younger lads. For us it is an honor to play in the Europa League and we will always give our best.”
Politano on their next Serie A match against Milan at the San Siro:
“Milan? Tomorrow we prepare for a difficult challenge, Milan at San Siro are very formidable. We must recover our physical and mental energy. Tomorrow will train us to be 100%.”
