After his side’s triumph over Fiorentina, Luciano Spalletti expressed his satisfaction at the result.
In his post-game interview with Sky Sport, the former Zenit tactician was asked about Totti and said,:
“I see him everyday in training. He had a positive effect when he came in. When he enters he brings enthusiasm which is an advantage.”
On the game itself:
“In my opinion, the team had a great game because they did the hardest thing which is take the possession away from a Fiorentina side full of quality. My players pressed them well and when we dispossessed them we were either dangerous or kept the ball. The rhythm dropped in the second half.”
Is it difficult to drop this formation?
“It’s evident that this team has certain balances. These players know their positions. The way our midfield is setup allows us to keep the ball.”
Keita helped keep the team compact.
“He intercepted plenty of Fiorentina’s attacks. By doing this he allowed the other three midfielders to interchange positions. He’s the only one who can play in front of the defence in this role. It’s a great victory against a big team.”
Are you close to the top of the league or is it too far?
“In opinion, the difference between us and first are a lot. We have to understand what those are doing ahead of us. It’s not like they’ll just stop getting points. Juventus are a huge team and have the right mentality, as well as a physically fit team. Whoever players for the bianconeri, immerses themselves with their mentality quickly.
What are you most proud of?
“Nothing. It’s all down to the player’s qualities. The first thing to do when I got here was to calm the players down and show them that they have quality. If you put in an extra midfielder, this happens. Their penalty shot tonight could have caused a few psychological issues.
