Stoke City have made an approach for Inter forward Mauro Icardi. The English club has been actively monitoring the young Argentinian, who has found limited opportunities at the Milanese club. Icardi has come on as a substitute in all eight of his Serie A matches. Although he has only played just north of 200 minutes of football, he has managed to notch two goals.
The 20 year old is quick and good on counterattacking, something Stoke could utilize since they are peppered with shots during matches, and also do not have quick forwards. Icardi is also a good finisher, and Stoke need that, considering that their highest scoring player only has 5 goals, and their highest scoring forward (Peter Crouch), has 4.
However, Icardi does not want to move to the Britannia. Instead, he has expressed his desire to stay and prove himself worthy of a starting spot at Inter (either that or Wanda didn’t like the climate in Stoke-on-Trent). Even with his desire to stay, Icardi may yet decide to go on loan to gain playing time. But it won’t be at Stoke.
