Serie A clubs must carry on with their current squads until May as the January transfer window came to a close late last night in Europe.

For the most part, it was a rather quiet month around Italy for the high-profile clubs. Juventus worked towards the future with approaches for younger talent, while AC Milan opted to stay the course rather than expanding their roster with additional investments. Meanwhile, Roma remained active until the very end, more so on the selling side of business, and Napoli fell short in their valiant attempt to secure a difference maker on the wing. However, there were several deals from others chasing vastly different objectives in the second half of the season that grabbed our attention.

Here are five of the top moves from January in terms of value, quality and potential upside.
