1) Allegri’s squad selection was questionable at best.

Despite Juventus’ win over Empoli, Massimiliano Allegri opted for a rather bizarre eleven. When playing against one of the league’s cellar dwellers, fans expected Allegri to roll out an offensively loaded lineup. The reality, however, was a different one. With Sturaro at left wing and Mandzukic at centre forward, the Italian giants struggled and only mustered one shot on target in the first half.

While it was only Empoli and a better squad will be fielded in the Champions League, tonight was the perfect opportunity to field Marko Pjaca and give him some playing time. Allegri, on the other hand, fielded a defensive midfielder on the wing and it showed. Moving forward, Allegri will need to field a better team or his continued mishandling of youth (Pjaca) will cause some problems.
