The Granata are set to sign 18-year-old Vitalie Damascan from Sheriff Tiraspol.
Never heard of Damascan? Up until a few weeks ago, neither had we.
Now the Moldovan is set to sign a 5-year deal with Torino after undergoing his physical at the Grande Torino. However, the last remaining hangup is in regards to his passport.
It’s a race against time for the parties as Damascan is trying to obtain a Romanian passport, which is part of the EU and wouldn’t count against Torino’s non-EU allotted spots.
The midfielder’s mother was born in Romania meaning he is eligible to receive one. If he does before the window closes, he will sign with Torino and join the first team.
Damascan made 5 Europa League appearances with Sheriff this season, mainly short cameos.
