Guidolin today gave a tactical lesson to Benitez, switching his scheme twice (from 3-4-2-1 to 4-2-3-1 on the 2-1, then to 3-5-2 on the 3-3) and succeeding. Basically only a poor defense deprived Udinese of the win. Here’s what he had to say to Sky Sport.
“I’m satisfied for myself but mainly for my players, we turned things around after the game against Inter that was the worst of my tenure. You can’t always pull off masterpieces or perfect seasons, we are in our dimension now and the fact that the whole group shares it gives me hope”.
“I believe that the attack of Napoli when combines with speed can create trouble for every team, I hope they can do that also against Arsenal to reach the next stage in the Champions League. We are sorry for conceding right after equalizing, but I give credit to the team for believing in the comeback”.
“I’ve been sent off for protesting after the Maggio episode, I think it was a clear cut chance and so a red card. Maggio was smart and cunning, but he slowed him down with a foul. The referee maybe didn’t see it, but surely the fourth man should have helped him”.
“It’s not easy to score three goals to Napoli, but in the last matches we surely could have scored more. We didn’t deserve to be among the teams that score the least. The change of mentality of the team was important, at the beginning we thought about an easy season but in Italy that’s never the case”.
“Di Natale suffered an injury a month ago, his leg became a little heavy and along with the medical staff we decided not to risk him. There is no conspiracy on the fact the he didn’t want to play at San Paolo”. Di Natale is a Neapolitan.
