UEFA to investigate Croatia fans

UEFA have announced that they are opening a disciplinary investigation into the actions of the traveling Croatian fans at Sunday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Italy at the San Siro. Some six thousand fans made the trip from the neighboring Balkan country and during the second half, some of them began throwing flares and fireworks onto the pitch, necessitating the game to be suspended for ten minutes for the safety of the players. 16 Croatian fans were arrested by the Carabinieri shortly after the game.

UEFA’s verdict and sanctions are scheduled to be announced on 11 December.
