Dybala’s positioning on the pitch
Paulo Dybala jumped out of the gate this season hotter than ever for Juventus, matching last year’s goal tally with 11 goals through 10 games. The 24 year old’s certainly taken his game to another level with the famous number 10 of the Bianconeri on his back, but has cooled a bit in terms of his offensive production, which many believe is attributed to where he’s been positioned throughout matches.
The former Palermo star has the license to roam and pretty much operate as he pleases in a very flexible attacking role to drop deeper into the midfield to aid in the build-up. Yet, often times, it feels as though he’s doing more harm than good by drifting further away from goal, thus the recent decline in goals. Regardless of what midfield setup Allegri opts for, that unit will need to step up and fulfill their duties to ensure Dybala can do what he does best – causing havoc in the final third with the ball at his feet.
