English Premier League club West Ham United looks to add Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic to the squad in 2017, according to The Sun.
West Ham previously acquired forward Simone Zaza from Juventus in the 2016 summer transfer window. However, in eight appearances for the club, Zaza has not scored a goal. The Italian does not have an assist yet either.
For this reason, West Ham have expressed their interest in Mandzukic. The Croatian forward has scored three goals for Juve in 12 Serie A appearances this season. His most recent goal though, came in a 3-1 UEFA Champions League win away at Sevilla.
Mandzukic has scored a total of 16 goals in all competitions since joining Juventus last season.
The forward got his reputation in his playing days for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Mandzukic scored 15 league goals for Bayern in his debut season in 2012-2013. He also added three Champions League goals that season. The following season with the German giants, Mandzukic then scored 18 league goals in the 2013-2014 season. He added another three Champions League goals that year.
Mandzukic moved to Atletico Madrid the next year and scored 17 goals in all competitions before moving to Italy in 2015.
West Ham needs a scoring presence in their attack, and Mandzukic is a possible target.
