Italy beat Liechtenstein in a 2018 World Cup Qualifying Group G match, cruising to a 4-0 victory on at Rheinpark Stadion on Saturday night.
Italy defender, Davide Zappacosta made his debut for the Azzurri at right-back in the match against Liechtenstein. After the match, Zappacosta spoke to Rai Sport about the experience.
“I am happy with my performance and the trust that the coach had in me. I have to stay down to earth, this must be a starting point. The opponent wasn’t one of the best, but they could be troublesome. I always try to give my best and to even score a goal, why not? I ran a lot, but I have to improve a bit on my crosses. I thought more to help [my teammates] score goals than to score myself. It was the whole team that wanted more goals.”
Italy remains tied with Spain at the top of Group G with 10 points.
