Interim Azzurri boss Luigi Di Biagio has announced his squad for the upcoming friendlies with Argentina and England at the end of the month, and there are quite a few surprising inclusions and omissions.
After plenty of speculation over the past few weeks as to who would be included in interim Italian National Team manager Luigi Di Biagio’s roster sheet for the friendlies with Argentina and England, the former Azzurrini boss revealed all 26 earlier Saturday afternoon.
In this list of call-ups were plenty of familiar faces, including long-time captain Gianluigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Marco Verratti, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne to name but a few.
For the most part, supporters will be quite pleased with Di Biagio’s team despite a controversial snub here and there, including Mario Balotelli and Mattia Caldara. However, here are five of the best call-ups.
